The best marketer wins every time.

Before they have bought from you, they only know how good your marketing is.

Kate Bradley Chernis is the Founder & CEO of Lately, an AI-powered marketing dashboard:

Kate Bradley Chernis is the Founder & CEO of Lately, an AI-powered marketing dashboard that’s reinventing the marketing process to give individual marketers the power to create and scale smarter, more consistent messaging. With Lately, Davids become Goliaths with Artificial Intelligence.

As a former marketing agency owner, Kate, initially created the idea for Lately out of spreadsheets for then-client, Walmart. Well, not just Walmart. It was a partnership between Walmart, United Way Worldwide, National Disability Institute, and tens of thousands of local, small business and nonprofit affiliates who were all using her spreadsheet system – because they all had the same problems: a lack of coordination, widespread redundancies, no visibility and no organization. With Kate’s spreadsheet system, they achieved a 130%, three year, year-over-year ROI.

In fact, Kate found similar success with all of her clients, regardless of industry or company size. So, along with one heck of a superhero team, she created Lately to organize the mess, automate repetitive processes and eliminate the “overwhelming” feeling that every marketer she’d ever met had complained about.

Prior to founding Lately, Kate served 20 million listeners as Music Director and on-air host at Sirius/XM. She’s also an award-winning radio producer, engineer and voice talent with 25 years of national broadcast communications, brand-building, sales and marketing expertise.

[spp-timestamp time=”00:30″] Introduction

[spp-timestamp time=”04:00″] Talking radio show hosting, software, authenticity, and how silence is really powerful.

[spp-timestamp time=”09:00″] How Kate’s unhappiness and her Dad shook her by her shoulders to remind her that she can’t work for other people. She couldn’t conform to her mail bosses rules. Her husband gave her the book, The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki. The next day she met her first angel investors and started her first company.

[spp-timestamp time=”14:00″] Organization is essential, quoting Tony Bourdain and Mise En Plus, everything in it’s place. He has his mise en place, referring to the ingredient station that a chef sets up before service.

[spp-timestamp time=”18:00″] Methods and procedures are crucial for growing your businesses into companies and corporations. Consistency is key for helping humans work better together for common goals.

[spp-timestamp time=”23:30″] The mistake of people writing blogs and only posting about it one time. Lately uses Artificial Intelligence to pull out key quotes and topics to generate new unique posts for social media. Plus we demo the Generator tool.

[spp-timestamp time=”24:00″] Improving sales teams and their use of social media marketing, using Lately’s artificial intelligence to break up blogs into multiple posts. Plus a live demo with Kate using the dashboard in Lately.

[spp-timestamp time=”55:20″] The importance of sounding good. Discussing how Kate and others use software like Dragon and JAWS, to help with their day to day disabilities. She used to work with the National Disability Institute.

[spp-timestamp time=”56:40″] Coaching others on working through their disabilities. Giving back after people gave back and helped Kate work through her own.

[spp-timestamp time=”59:00″] Connecting about disabilities and namedropping Maxwell Ivey aka The Blind Blogger. Kate visited the Pentagon when all of this new software was coming out regarding screen readers. Life gives you lemons and it’s all about what you do with it.

[spp-timestamp time=”01:01:15″] Her aunt lost her three children in a fire. She came out of that experience as a powerful mentor and leader.

[spp-timestamp time=”01:02:10″] If we can just change one course of a life to improve, that’s the true game of success.

Listen to your instincts, especially if you are a woman, because we have very good instincts but we tend to ignore them the most. If you don’t, they’ll scream at you. You just may have pain and other things. It’s amazing how much your instincts really kick in, you know, it wakes you up in the middle of the night. I find that I constantly need to be reminded that I know. People have invested in me because I know. It’s right here…

Johnathan Grzybowski, is rogue risk taker turned entrepreneur and national thought leader in digital marketing and branding. He is the Cofounder of Penji, an unlimited graphic design service for marketing teams, that provides jobs and internship opportunities to Camden students and residents.

Who is Penji? We’re a group of designers, marketers, and creative thinkers who got together because we wanted to build more than just a company. We wanted to build a community conscious company that bring jobs and opportunities for students within our community. We provide first and foremost a learning platform for students to become better designers and better equipped for the new industrial revolution that’s taking place. In addition, we also are the first to employ students that go through our program.

We believe amazing design doesn’t have to be expensive, time-consuming, and convoluted. And we believe there should be more transparency when it comes to the entire design process from when you request a design to when you receive the final version. Our mission at Penji is to be your always online, always available, and absolutely dependable designer. You may not always need us, but when you do…you bet we’re online and ready to rock and roll!

Living in India was not an option anymore.

I had lost all my saving and had to borrow money from my parents because I lost in all in gambling. I wanted to take a shortcut and earn a quick buck because I was extremely disappointed with my job. This was rock bottom for me.

In spite of all this, I knew that I wanted to do my master’s degree abroad, see the world, experience a different culture, and possibly find a well-paying job again. This time, it was time to pay off my debts and start my life anew.

“You Have To Implement!” – Rohan Kale

So I took my “last gamble”, got an education loan and came to Germany to pursue MBA. A new country, new language, and new life. Initially, I struggled with everything but I realized that the only way to get around this was to be driven towards the goal I had set for myself. This put me from the surviving to a thriving mindset and I finished my MBA successfully.

I got a well-paying job in one of the best automotive companies in the world. Within 2 years I was successfully able to pay off all my debts and have a clean slate. Although during this time, I realized that a job will never make me happy and I loved having a personal connection with clients. The direct influence that my work had towards my clients was never visible. Being in big companies, this was never going to happen due to the organizational structure of corporations.

I, therefore, started looking into other options but this time, I wanted to be sure that whatever I do, it should be for the correct purpose. After taking a step back, I realized that cartoons and animations were something that I really loved right from my childhood.

During my research, I realized that video marketing has a huge ongoing demand and it’s not going to stop anytime soon. I went and learned video marketing and started the business alongside my primary job. Within 6 months, I was able to quit my job and help businesses tell their stories via animated videos and attracting customers via video marketing funnels.

Here I am 2 years down, working with a team of 15, and helping businesses all over the world!

Final Words:

First thing is, be a door. There are a lot of people who talk about planning and strategy but start doing shit! Start implementing whatever you have learned, it doesn’t have to be perfect. This is SO CRUCIAL! Just remember this one thing, “You Have To Implement!”

When you think that it’s starting to get uncomfortable, that’s the time you have to start pushing harder. That’s where you are very close to your goal. It’s not going to be easy, it’s going to be a hell of a lot of effort to start a business!

A human being and Dad to Spencer. Your latest co-host enjoys doing more of what makes him happy. He’s an award winning community creator from the United Kingdom.

2009 – 2011 was a transitional time for Chris. He was studying academically and non-academically, Chris started blogging and was fired up about the potential of social media and content marketing.

This is when he started to help small businesses in his spare time, cutting his teeth with social media and content for commercial enterprises. It makes sense now, looking back, that when he left his job to go to the university, that he decided to never work for anyone else, ever again.

“So, my story isn’t that dramatic – I didn’t quit my job to become an entrepreneur. I simply decided to not get a job after university.” – Chris Marr

CMA was registered in 2012 and Chris become a Director the day he graduated from the University of St. Andrews in June 2013.

“No one has ever asked me about my degree, and no one has ever asked me for my CV. This stuff doesn’t matter anymore.” – Chris Marr

Our Fish Out of Water co-host today is a Best-selling Author, Keynote Speaker, Social Media Entrepreneur and contributor to multiple online blogs. Finding your, ‘Why’ is not enough. Sometimes you need that something extra to push you over the edge. You have to keep fueling the fire to keep it alive. You don’t want to get ten years down the road and find the fire has been extinguished. Proving the impossible is possible is this episodes co-host.

At the beginning of 2015, he quit his corporate job, moved to California and began to reinvent himself. He wondered what life would be like in ten years if he didn’t fuel the fire of entrepreneurship inside of him. Not liking what he saw, Calvin Wayman pursued self-development and attended the “THRIVE: Make Money Matter” event in 2015. This changed his life forever. He has achieved quite a lot in the past year reinventing himself. He is now the founder & CEO at CobbesMedia, Author of Fish Out of Water, Writer at Social Media Examiner, The Huffington Post and at Entrepreneur Magazine. Reinvention never stops.

On This Episode You Will Hear:

[spp-timestamp time=”02:01″] Calvin quit his job in early 2015 and attended Thrive later that year. Thrive gave Calvin a massive boost. He was finally around people like himself.

[spp-timestamp time=”03:50″] Calvin met somebody at Thrive who told him how to write for Entrepreneur Magazine. At the time of the Thrive event in 2015 the only thing he felt he had to offer was his knowledge on the live platform Periscope. He bagged his first client at the event, Tai Lopez who decided to buy his course.

[spp-timestamp time=”04:45″] The guy he met about Entrepreneur magazine was called Jeff Woods,

[spp-timestamp time=”05:44″] The first article he submitted to Entrepreneur Mag was about Periscope and it was rejected. After that Calvin thought, editors don’t want to read the whole article, they don’t have time to. So he decided to create an article pitch of the just the title and four super simple bullet points. Instead of just sending one, he sent three at once so they could pick which one they wanted.

[spp-timestamp time=”07:44″] Because he had already written for Entrepreneur Magazine Calvin found it easy to get into Huffington Post. He emailed them linking to his articles.

[spp-timestamp time=”08:28″] Social Media Examiner was the tough one to write for. They have a very strict entrance process. You have to send in three articles from three other places you have written for. It has to be around the topic you want to write about.

[spp-timestamp time=”09:28″] Calvin is from Utah. To shake up the norm he quit his day job and moved to Southern California and started to sell solar energy door to door, to shake off any feeling of being an employee that he might of developed. A mentor told him if you can do four months of Door to Door you probably can do pretty much anything.

[spp-timestamp time=”11:38″] Door to Door sales for him was one of the most gut wrenching, anxious, depressive things he has ever done in his entire life but he would not change it for anything because it taught him so much.

[spp-timestamp time=”12:38″] The Quarter Life Crisis. Calvin projected himself ten years into the future and thought, what if nothing has changed? And it scared him. He had this flame inside of him to go create something. But what if that flame inside of him dies, the wants and desires to be an entrepreneur dies.

[spp-timestamp time=”16:36″] What can you do to keep fueling the fire? Do you. Do what makes you happy. But never regret. You only regret the things you don’t do.

[spp-timestamp time=”18:58″] At this turning point, Calvin was married, had a one year old son and had $33k in debt.

[spp-timestamp time=”20:04″] Advice to the younger generations

[spp-timestamp time=”27:48″] Selling Eggs as kids

[spp-timestamp time=”39:51″] Running a Ultra Marathon and Taking imperfect action.

[spp-timestamp time=”42:31″] Getting schooled. Using the Fish metaphor. Getting around other people swimming in the same direction.

[spp-timestamp time=”46:02″] Hit a wall at the 26 mile mark

[spp-timestamp time=”57:21″] Embrace the road blocks

[spp-timestamp time=”58:58″] Events have been one of the biggest hacks for him in the past year.

[spp-timestamp time=”01:03:31″] We all have to start somewhere. We all have our own circles of influence

[spp-timestamp time=”01:06:54″] Take action and start building a following. You have to put in the reps to hone the message and services you provide. You need to be taking action but also you need to be patient with yourself as well.

Final Words

You have got to realize you can create Roger Banister effects in all areas of your life.

Roger Bannister in 1954 was the first guy to run a four minute mile. For decades people tried to run a four minute mile but ultimately failed. It became well accepted that no human being could ever run a four minute mile. But then one person, Roger Banister did it. He made the impossible possible. The interesting part is, how long did his record breaking four minute mile last? Logic would say this could not be repeated. It took 46 days for it to be broken.

Once people see that it is possible, and that it can be done they can believe they can do it for themselves.
