<p>11:15 &#8211; It&#8217;s also powerful in a way that, I became a believer of the idea of food as medicine. I always remind myself that I wake up, the kids are here, because food was medicine. We would not have done that. We would not have, they would not be here. So, I mean, it&#8217;s pretty powerful for them. They don&#8217;t know the story yet.</p>
<p>20:00 &#8211; Some of them actually are facts that you need to listen, it just took time to find the right people to start implementing the implementers, whether it be engineers, or just people who just decided to execute on the on the game plan and figure it out. All of a sudden we apply these discoveries that weren&#8217;t fully applied, they were implemented before.</p>
<p>32:45 &#8211; That&#8217;s the point about this idea that we are looking at, you know, 12-13 biomarkers today on blood. Normally we think about blood biomarkers, we can think about, maybe sweat, but you can also think about digital biomarkers, like sleep and weight data, and your HRV and your activity, your heart rate, and many other things. So, one thing that we are trying to do a lot every day, is to really focus on understanding. How do we master nutrition? How do we build these things that are going to help you make that behavior change stick?&nbsp;</p>
<p>41:30 &#8211; So it&#8217;s so interesting, it&#8217;s why we alone, we talk about the nutrition problem, and we work today in a world of supplements and powders and stuff like that. It doesn&#8217;t mean we are going to stop there, we&#8217;re going to go into into food fairly quickly. But while we did start with the supplements, for example, I think it&#8217;s mind boggling and many people don&#8217;t know the fact that 20 million people in this country are taking supplements every day.</p>
<p>57:30 &#8211; In the bag, what we are sending to people and is handed back to that person, is blended specifically for that person. We have worked with really, really good people on the backend to make it scalable. This is something that has never really been done before. So every product we do, we try to be able to customize the protein, literally every protein bag we put out is gonna be different for that customer.</p>

<p><strong>Our Final Words of the Show: </strong></p>
<p>I think for me, the really the big thing is that the smart nutrition is something that you know, I believe it can become a real thing. Like a smartphone. What if we, now in the next decade, we invent this concept and take it further not us, but you know, hundreds of people, 1000 people, you know, hundreds of companies are gonna I hope adopt this idea. What if we, what if this becomes like a smartphone? What if half the people adopt smart interest and products that come from this world? What if we can actually with this sense, the way healthcare is perceived, and my big thing that I want to work on? I don&#8217;t know if it&#8217;s possible, but I think today that we might be able to figure it out, the code of health for humans by connecting us into more sensors and more biomarkers, and I think we can all find the universal theory of health, and it will look very different than what we have today.</p>
<p>When we have 100 different types of doctors. Looking at one part of your body. It&#8217;s like you&#8217;re blindfolded and you&#8217;re taxing the elephant from the nose and from the tail. That&#8217;s what the doctors do. and they don&#8217;t communicate to care, they don&#8217;t convene together to talk about your condition, the one doctor makes the call and then the other ones are not in the loop, they barely even see the data or the audit or the record.</p>

<p>00:30: Introduction</p>
<p>10:00: I grew up studying nutrition, I never heard of anything in fasting ketogenic diets. They were the things to avoid at all costs, right? So, I went to Rutgers University actually grew up in Allentown, New Jersey.</p>
<p>20:00: It&#8217;s really a result of many things going on, but it&#8217;s giving the brain an alternative fuel that allows the brain to function under these extreme environments. It also changes some of the neuropharmacologies of the brain in ways that we&#8217;re just understanding now.</p>
<p>30:00: My wife is Hungarian and she and I went over there. They&#8217;re eating brains, kidneys, and liver. I mean this is what they have every night. So it&#8217;s a little strange and it was about the same time I met my wife and actually started doing ketogenic research about the same time. So now she has gotten to incorporate a lot more organ meat into our diets. We grew up hunting, the liver was what we would give to the dogs. We would never think about eating the deer liver, we would just dress the deer when we got home and just keep the neat stuff.</p>
<p>40:00: Kristi Storoschuk helps on so many projects, she&#8217;s been like a godsend as our Head Writer. My student Andrew Koutnik is now Dr. Koutnik. He&#8217;s type one diabetic and also does nutritional ketosis and gave a TEDx talk on nutritional ketosis. You can look them up, fantastic TEDx talks and is a new writer who&#8217;s super educated and passionate about this.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m a scientist, I&#8217;m a data-driven person, and I do experiments in the lab. But the thing that I think is really the cornerstone of my health is really good relationships, you know, with my wife, with my friends with my family. It&#8217;s really important to prioritize relationships in addition to learning and in addition to nutrition. I think that&#8217;s the key.</p>
<p>I think you ave to take a step back and look at what&#8217;s important and really put that at the top, Then your passion for everything else will just come through. So I think for me, for my own health, mental health, and just health as a whole person, prioritizing those relationships is key.</p>

<p>Ann-Marie graduated from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, an accredited 4 year Doctoral program that is considered a leader in evidence-based medicine, and the first Chiropractic school to be awarded a federal research grant.</p>
<p>Dr. Barter underwent rigorous clinical training with some of the finest chiropractors. Ann has also undergone advanced training in Applied Kinesiology, completing over 400 extra classroom hours and is certified to practice Applied Kinesiology. She has also studied Functional Blood Chemistry under Dr. Kharrazian.</p>
<p>She has taken an interest in optimizing health by incorporating diet counseling, whole food supplementation, herbal therapy, wellness and lifestyle coaching, scar tissue work, deep tissue massage, and exercise programs.</p>
<p>Dr. Barter has completed the 18 hours required for certification by The Running Clinic for: New Trends in the Prevention of Running Injuries. This training course has been delivered more than a hundred times, on 5 continents! It has been developed using the most recent scientific evidence, it questions several current unjustified practices. The techniques learned in this class help Dr. Barter better assess her patients and aids in making recommendations for avoiding future running-related injuries.</p>
<h3>Ann&#8217;s Bio Continued:</h3>
<p>Medicine is a second career and passion for Dr. Barter. Initially, she worked at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth, Texas negotiating major systems for their fighter jet program. She excelled at difficult negotiations and was able to hit challenging company goals.</p>
<p>Ann is passionate about chiropractic, helping people get out of pain and reach their maximum potential. Chiropractic changed Dr. Barter’s life. When she was in initially introduced to chiropractic (in her early 20’s) she was skeptical. The more educated she became in the art of chiropractic, the more interested and intrigued she became, until she finally asked for an adjustment from a family friend who practices chiropractic. The treatment was like magic. He not only adjusted her spine but also her feet, hips, knees, wrists, and elbows. She felt new and light, like a better version of herself. He also took extra time to put her on a specific dietary protocol and nutritional regimen, from which she realized major positive changes. She excelled academically, experienced less gastrointestinal upset, reduced brain-fog, lost weight, and started to enjoy activities like hiking, because her foot mechanics had been changed.</p>
<p>Dr. Barter has been active in athletics her entire life. For 17 years Dr. Barter was a competitive dancer. These days she can be found dancing, skiing, running, performing yoga, biking, hiking, lifting weights or walking her Rhodesian Ridgeback, Ritz. She knows what it takes to be an athlete and she finds great satisfaction in helping athletes reach their maximum potential.</p>

<p>Being a practitioner, sometimes practitioners don&#8217;t connect because there&#8217;s this concern about scarcity and they don&#8217;t do what&#8217;s best for the patient. It can be working with our MD or working with a surgeon or whomever it is, to give them the best care when we integrate.</p>
<p>It is powerful medicine because multiple eyes looking at one thing is so much better than one set of eyes looking at one thing. I just think people really do need to take control of their health.</p>
<p>The people that I see coming in here, they are 20 years old, especially in my Denver location. They&#8217;re 20 years old, they&#8217;re struggling with crazy things that they cannot get to the bottom of. I mean we&#8217;re talking eczema, we&#8217;re talking about abscesses in their large intestines. You have to take these alternative methods seriously earlier, because, you know, you&#8217;re going to have a much better life, you&#8217;re going to have a much better quality of life. I don&#8217;t know why people don&#8217;t want to do that. I don&#8217;t know why people don&#8217;t want to embrace that. It&#8217;s just baffles me.</p>

Dr. Jay earned a B.A. with a double major in Biology and Theology from Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida. This is where he researched inhibitors of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). After college, he continued to work with virus (lentivirus) in the context of brain disease for the U.S. Department of Veteran&#8217;s Affairs. Next, Dr. Jay earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University School of Medicine, researching fats, hormones, and cholesterol, in Boston, Massachusetts.</p>
<p>In addition to AJCCo, Dr. Jay is the President of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit the International Medical Research Collaborative.</p>
