Welcome Back to Another Men of Mindset Evening!

That’s right, this is Scott’s 4th Men of Mindset event at his home casa! Tonight we featured manly guests discussing various aspects of life, business, and personal growth. Scott introduced the theme, emphasizing the importance of mindset. Nick shared his transition from corporate to entrepreneurship, highlighting the need for male connections. 34:00 – Well, the gamble becomes, given your tolerance for risk, given your personality, like you said, the gamble became pretty clear. For one, my former career was mental health. So I was 20 years as a mental health therapist, master’s degree, and making $45,000 a year. That’s poverty, that’s a crime. Even if you make $250-500,000 a year, it doesn’t matter like when you’re in corporate and you have a title that goes along with it, at some point, you’re signing your soul away for you to make that money, you’re gonna have to work more. You have to do all those things. But as an entrepreneur, you can make infinite money without always having to work harder.

40:10 – Let me full serve that real quick. One thing I love about this is like you’ve given me a lot of props over the years since I met you over running chainsaws, volunteering, building mountain biking trails, and hearing those horror stories and just me telling you, like, bro, start easy. Just start listening to podcasts. Get into the audiobooks, start geeking out. That was just some of the earlier shit we discussed. But technically, what I loved full circle tonight was what you just said a few minutes ago, before the word vomit, is the fact that actually Dave’s one of your earlier mentors, before you met me.

64:50 – I’m the same person, but because I have more financial freedom, I can fix most problems and help build most dreams, most of which are for other people that I care about. Therefore, that’s when I say money matters.

73:00 – I worked for one person my whole life, my dad. I moved on, I went on, I kept going. I saw my own thing, but that’s the family, but again, the lightest, most laid back guy here. He taught me everything.

06:50 – METAL.MEN is who we are, that’s the website. That’s what we are. We’re a men’s group of inspiration, adventure, brotherhood, so let’s dig in on our interesting group of guys.

24:35 – In the METAL MEN group, guys come to us often looking for help with something they’re looking for help with. You know, career advice, or you’ve hit a plateau in what you’re doing, or you want to find out what next. You are just looking for something, right? But guys that stick around stay for the Brotherhood. That is what you’re talking about, the human connection. Being in a space where meeting guys who are very similar to the way you look at things, but from many different backgrounds.

44:00 – I don’t ride motorcycles anymore, the one in 600 but this is actually a specific thing. This is about commuting to work as you get in a sort of ongoing route that you get used to, and you start relaxing, which you should never do, do not become complacent, right? If there was an accident and you survive, the odds are you are going to ride a different way afterwards. How are you going to manage that risk? Sometimes you just have to accept there is a risk, and it’s part of life, right? The fifth thing that we have out of the eight is our BROTHERHOOD. Successful MEN need other successful men. We come from a community and metal of heart centeredness. METAL is completely independent. We are not affiliated with any publishing, religious, political, etc. We are an independent community.

1:05:40 – The answer to that is actually brotherhood and community. It’s about connecting with guys who’ve been very successful or are on the way to being very successful, who can then lean in and just be with you because they’re in the same place. Choosing conscious Brotherhood is different than just meeting guys when you’re out in the world. If you’ve got kids, you meet the friends, you meet your kids, friends, and fathers. What do you have in common? Likely not very much, but you’ve got your kids in common, and so you’ll end up in this kind of hinterland of having these men, male relationships around you. You don’t really have anything in common, and you couldn’t really say, well, you know, I’m in a really dark depression because my dream came true six weeks ago.

I think I can sum up what you’re talking about in terms of sort of a personal development frame, which is you, you seem to be a perfect example of a guy who knows himself more. Now, when you were a kid, you didn’t know yourself then, and there are lessons that you go through to know yourself better. The secret to happiness in your late 40s, early 50s and onwards is knowing yourself, and it’s finding your purpose and understanding where your weaknesses are. Impulse control, if you come from a family where you have addiction in the family, just be aware that may well be integrated into your DNA and in a way that you could fall off that wagon pretty quick. Just be conscious of it, that is a thing. Know yourself.

00:30 – Introduction

06:15 – I worked for three years for somebody, but I knew from day one that I wanted to be self-employed. So I was working inside a franchise company and I became like a very high paid salesperson very quickly, I figured out like, you know, relationship and you know, how to be you know, drive result because I was, again always into goals and, you know, discipline and self-motivation.

10:55 – Now, there’s the book theory of running a business and then there’s real world. The example I always give is, look, I can tell you what it’s like to ride a bike, since you’re a cyclist, right? I can tell you what you’re going to do mechanically. But until you sit on a bike and feel what it feels like to balance a bike underneath you, you can’t really understand what it feels like to ride a bike.

20:25 – I will first backup to say. If I stopped growing, how can I be one of America’s top consultants? That’s ridiculous. So yeah, I reached the pinnacle of what I do as a franchise consultant years ago, but my friends are like, no moss grows on your drink. So I’m gonna say I peaked at 40 and then I never dared take a chance or do anything different?! So no, what I did was, I wasn’t able to then turn to mentors inside my industry. But I found mentors outside of my industry, I found people who were creating wealth, in ways different than what I was using, real estate syndication, using infinite banking policies, using storage, using real tangible assets, I found somebody that had personal net worth of $100 million.

30:00 – We all have the internal power to create that WHY for ourselves. That’s what fuels every single thing. My WHY isn’t money, my WHY is influence, my WHY is helping people I see. The satisfaction for me, isn’t taking somebody from I have the dream to leave corporate America, or I have the dream to own a business. But I don’t know how to make it come true and taking them through a one to two month process to where I’m happily marrying them off to their franchisor.

40:25 – In a lot of businesses, the franchisor doesn’t want the investor to invest in the land up front, save your cash, put it into the business, make sure this is a business you’re going to enjoy. Make sure you have enough cash flow to get the business up and positively, you know, cash flowing, and then maybe look to buy out your landlord over time. Automotive is like a great industry for that for people that ultimately want to own the real estate.

I would say Scott that freedom is the most honest state of the human being right. We were created for joy and joy is really only ever fully achieved when we feel free. Freedom comes with a price. Usually, in the context of owning a business. The price is courage. It’s the courage to put yourself into the arena. But in a franchising situation, it doesn’t require like pure guts, it requires you following the lead of other people, those who’ve already figured it out. I can be your guide to help find those people to find an organization where you believe that you can thrive. So it’s not like getting into that airplane, getting to your cruising altitude, and then jumping out having never skydived before all by yourself. It’s skydiving out of that airplane with somebody on your back who’s done this hundreds of times, and who can help you carefully land where you’re trying to go.

That’s really going to sum it up. So for those people that are inspired by the idea to own your business, it’s never going to be the right time. It’s never going to feel 100%, like, oh my gosh, this is it, I gotta go do this. There’s always going to be those doubts, those insecurities, those anxieties, but if you want the outcome, if you want the life that you truly own, where you can be accountable to you where you can wake up every day, feeling empowered by what you’ve created, and abundant because it’s all yours and it’s unlimited. You have to be willing to push through those first fears, and put yourself into the conversation and I’m here, I’d love to be your daily coach, my services are free, you will never pay me any money, so you have nothing to lose.

Your Breathing: Take a deep breath, refuel, reprogram your neurological pathways. Take in that slow breath and exhale everything you want to get rid of. You then inhale everything you are open to receiving.

Your body is your biggest asset. You need to start investing in it now. Start by hiring a coach or mentor. That’s what this episode’s co-host had done. Commitment is doing what you were said you were going to do long after the feeling you said it and has past. We all commit to things with excitement and afterwards when that excitement has gone we don’t follow through on the commitment because we don’t have any more feeling but commitment is not supposed to be attached to feeling, you make commitments while you have the feeling so when you don’t have it anymore you still do it because you are committed to it. 99% of people can follow through for other people but not for themselves. The other 1% of people hold themselves to a higher standard than they do for other people. You need to be committed to yourself, you need to work o discipline outside of feeling with things you make commitments on and the worst commitment you can break is the one that you make to yourself.
