<p>00:30 &#8211; Introduction</p>
<p>11:00 &#8211; The absolute most all encompassing aspect of that is the light that we&#8217;re under. So if it&#8217;s not totally dark, when you&#8217;re sleeping, your body knows. Our bodies, even if you&#8217;re covering your eyes, your body can tell that the light is there, because every single cell in our body is being programmed by that light. So I&#8217;ve done all these things and then like drinking a Red Bull before you go to bed, right?</p>
<p>21:50 &#8211; One of the things I was learning was the importance of being in the sun for making vitamin D. I knew you couldn&#8217;t make vitamin D in the winter and a lot of places, but I&#8217;d never thought much about it beyond that. I gave my kids a supplement, because the pediatrician told me to and that was kind of it. So I downloaded the D minder app, which tells you where the sun is in the sky, and it geo locates you and tells you how much vitamin D you can make on that day, depending on where you are.</p>
<p>32:15 &#8211; I love it. That&#8217;s beautiful, Scott, and that&#8217;s exactly it, right? It goes back to what we were saying before. You can take really good care of yourself. But then if you go to bed in a pile of asbestos, everything you&#8217;ve done that day is not going to save you right. So it&#8217;s if not taking care of our light is like I would say as toxic as sleeping in a pile of asbestos.</p>
<p>40:45 &#8211; You do want to be getting some blue light during the day. That&#8217;s the reason the darker the lenses, the more blue light is being blocked. There is no blue light in nature after sunset. There is blue light present in nature, during the day, especially around high noon. However, the natural light that you get from the sun, while it contains some of the blue spectrum, you never get just the blue on its own. It&#8217;s always balanced out with some orange and some yellow and some red. I mean, it&#8217;s the Sci Fi like it&#8217;s not blue. So high noon, when you when it&#8217;s like that really bright, intense light, that&#8217;s when you have the most blue light present and the least red and then sunrise and sunset. Obviously, it flips around and the blue almost disappears. So if you were nighttime blue blockers during the day, you&#8217;re still messing up your circadian rhythm. Because you&#8217;re, you&#8217;re telling it there&#8217;s no blue light, which will trick your body, it&#8217;ll make you sleepy.</p>
<p>50:20 &#8211; I have my red light on. So if there&#8217;s decent quality and then this, I like that. So that&#8217;s from a company called EMR tech. Yet these are those nice little lens. So it&#8217;s not like a full red light panel where you can lay in front of it. and do your whole body. They do have those too.</p>

<h2><strong>Our Final Words of the Show: </strong></h2>
<p>I&#8217;m gonna go back to when I was at when I asked the doctors, when this type of information would make it into med school. And they said if if it ever does, it&#8217;ll be another 15-20 years. And what I&#8217;ve realized through my research is there&#8217;s something called the translational gap, when new information or a new discovery is validated and real. But there&#8217;s, there&#8217;s a lag between when it has been discovered, like say penicillin, and when it&#8217;s something that&#8217;s actively prescribed through the medical system. And we&#8217;re in that gap right now with this type of information. And that gap is being filled with things like this podcast, and listening to this podcast and having mentors like you, and being people who are willing to take a risk and do their own research. We&#8217;re shifting the paradigm and closing that gap faster, if it would you and maybe wouldn&#8217;t even ever get closed. So I just want to say that what you do, and the people who listen to this podcast, it really matters.</p>

<p>10:00 &#8211; So let me just think about sleep critically and so I dived into the literature and just found a lot of studies out there that show that specific frequencies of light after dark was messing up our sleep. A lot of the blue light frequencies are the focus but also the green light as well.</p>
<p>20:00 &#8211; If someone sat in an office and there&#8217;s artificial light on, you can&#8217;t just put an app on. LED lights or progressive lights that are in your office are quite damaging. You have to take the appropriate action and wear blue light protection over your eyes as well in the office space.&nbsp;A lot of people want to wear yellow lenses in offices, but some companies don&#8217;t allow it. They think they are sunglasses and advise that you can&#8217;t wear those. They have no right though to determine your eye health. They&#8217;re not sunglasses, so push back.</p>
<p>30:00 &#8211; Ultimately, artificial light, light after dark aka after sunset is an inevitable thing these days. People don&#8217;t want to just come home and sit around the campfire and talk to people. They want to watch the tele aka television or they might want to work on their laptops. Blue and green light are affecting us all these days and many people just say, well, I&#8217;ve got apps on my smartphones and all that.</p>
<p>40:00 &#8211; So then what we did was we took 450 and we eliminated everything below it. So 100% is from 400 to 450, we completely eradicated that, and then we left 450 to 495 of the blue spectrum pretty much intact. So these are daytime glasses</p>
<p>50:00 &#8211; I&#8217;m one of these guys that when I make a decision, I&#8217;m all in. I&#8217;m committed and I know that there are people out here hearing and watching this that aren&#8217;t wired that way. But I have to remind people too that you can become wired that way you can get there tomorrow. It just starts by committing to make a decision.</p>

<p>I guess the final word for me is that we&#8217;re an education brand first and that we just so happen to sell some products that can help with that education. We want people to not just rush out and buy glasses from anyone. We want people to research the science, have a look at the studies, have a look at the blogs that I&#8217;m writing, listen to the podcasts I&#8217;ve been on. Then make your own decisions as to whether you feel you need these glasses or what glasses you need.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t want BLUblox to feel like it&#8217;s in the industry, at the moment, as a company that&#8217;s just selling blue light glasses. I want to come across as this empowering sort of organization that educates people and actually has passion behind its&#8217; products and its not just run by an entrepreneur trying to make a quick buck. I&#8217;m someone that wants to help and give back to those not just in need but those who have the ability to help themselves by listening and thinking critically about certain aspects of life and in this instance, obviously that starts with light.</p>

As we age, our eyes actually develop more of a barrier to blue light. When we&#8217;re very young, our eyes haven&#8217;t developed as much. That blue light that has been emitted from an iPad or TV screen or cell phone is literally hitting their eyes. We don&#8217;t know exactly what damage it&#8217;s doing.</li>
<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;10:17&#8243;]&nbsp;Even if you got seven or eight hours of sleep, your sleep quality was compromised from blue light. I have not actually limited my screen time, my screen use if anything has increased. However, I protect my eyes with these glasses while I&#8217;m using it. I got to tell you, Scott, I sleep flawlessly. I mean for a 42-year-old man, I&#8217;m sleeping as good as I&#8217;m sure 40 something man can sleep.</li>

<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;14:30&#8243;] Ten, twenty, or thirty years from now, we are going to look back to this time and realize that putting a phone to our ear and using WiFi was actually just disintegrating our brain and messing with our neurology. All of this causing irreparable damage, just like when people first smoked cigarettes, they didn&#8217;t really realize it was it was bad for your health.</li>
<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;17:00&#8243;]&nbsp;I&#8217;ve had people challenge me a lot. In fact, my voice is busted at the moment, you can probably hear it&#8217;s a little bit creaky. I&#8217;ve been at a self-development seminar for five days, where they broke me down and made me cry in front of 50 people.</li>
<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;21:28&#8243;] One thing that I&#8217;ve been able to grow with, this is not self-promotion, is this level of vulnerability that we reach as a man. This is not to take anything away from the ladies. We as men are afraid to show that softer side or that vulnerable side.</li>
<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;25:45&#8243;] I would imagine them saying just stop being a pussy, dude. I gotta say, I don&#8217;t want to say I&#8217;m drinking the&nbsp;Kool-Aid, but I will say that I am certainly embracing going deep, getting triggered, and bringing up some nasty, awkward stuff for the sole purpose of growth. So far, it&#8217;s working. It&#8217;s not pretty. It&#8217;s messy. But I have to say that it&#8217;s working.</li>
<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;30:27&#8243;] Our job description in relationships has changed. It used to be, go out, hunt, kill, and provide, Be tough, deal with the stuff and take care of business. They&#8217;re demanding more of us and that more is vulnerability and emotions. It&#8217;s challenging and it&#8217;s messy sometimes.</li>
<li>[spp-timestamp time=&#8221;36:06&#8243;]&nbsp;If we&#8217;re not getting out of our comfort zones, if we&#8217;re not challenging ourselves, if we&#8217;re not taking risks and risking failure, we&#8217;re not learning. We&#8217;re not gaining either, you&#8217;re just paused.</li>

I&#8217;d put on about 25 pounds in the course of a year, which isn&#8217;t a huge amount, but it&#8217;s, it&#8217;s noticeable. I had little fat rolls, kind of like hanging over my little inflammatory storage.</li>

I just encourage people to quit drinking for 30 days. I put about almost 10,000 people through this. Now, in three years, since I&#8217;ve had this program, most people at the end of 30 days do go back to drinking. However, they go back at a far reduced rate than before. So they&#8217;re now no longer relying on alcohol to relieve stress. They no longer are relying on alcohol to social and realize they now have a better relationship with alcohol.</li>

All of these women and men around the world are spending all of this money on moisturizers, face&nbsp;anti-aging, all that stuff. If you want to reduce wrinkles and reduce the site visible signs of aging, quit drinking. It&#8217;s so simple, just drink a bunch of water.</li>

Dr. Travis and his wife, Dr. Jenna Zigler, use the profits from Eye Love to fund free and low-cost clinics in Jamaica. They also started a charity called the <a href="https://eyelovecares.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Eye Love Cares Foundation</a>, which provides exams, glasses and sunglasses for those in need, free education, and scholarships for students that align with their mission. Dr. Travis enjoys traveling to Jamaica, training for marathons, and playing the ukulele while he drinks his morning coffee (French press&#8230; mmmm). <h3>Eye Love&#8217;s long-term mission and vision:</h3>
<p>A portion of profits from Eye Love sales is donated to the Eye Love Cares Foundation and funds are then used to provide glasses, sunglasses, and eye exams for those who cannot afford to obtain proper eye care.
