Timestamped Show Notes:

00:30 – Introduction

06:30 – Shoutout to singer Dominque Briar.

09:30 – In October 2016 on an island in the Gulf of Thailand, I’m there with my business partner. I wake up to the text in capital letters, and he’s Mr. understatement, “We have $1,000 in the bank, we just just made payroll, we have $1,000 in the bank?!”

15:25 – 99% of people use self-inflicted limiting thought processes which comes down to a lack of education, basic education, about how our words influence us, for better and for worse. When I say your language, I mean internal dialogue and external dialogue.

21:00 – Badass as hell, man. I’ve got a similar story, dude. I got a one way ticket when I flew over to Thailand in 2007. My goal was to go pro as a coach at this fasting and cleansing resort on that same island. I left behind a teaching career and that’s when I just went for it!

29:00 – It’s the beginner syndrome, all the beginner syndrome is, is the awkwardness of learning a new skill. It’s the awkwardness of being new to a scene.

36:30 – The Victim Mentality, actually defined, acquired personality that… a person tends to repeat to himself or herself, as the victim.

40:00 – Mark provides a 2nd, quicker definition, of the Victim Mentality and it’s impacts.

45:00 – Most of it comes from lack of preparation or lack of belief in your product. Then of course, there’s the identity part that we bring into everything that we do. When someone is breathing poorly in a sales conversation, and their breath is trapped in the chest, the person that is your prospect is going to pick up on that.

51:40 – Mindset defined by Enlifted

01:11:00 – Beginner syndrome, it’s the awkwardness, it’s the skill acquisition, it’s like, oh, what am I doing, and then you figure it out. Then you get better at it and then your confidence increases with your competence.

01:21:10 – Finding your purpose? No pressure everybody. Let’s unpack that “purpose”. Even though I need to find my purpose, for me, even though I fell in love on site, and thought this was cool shit and I still think it is, the whole language and word game. I did not commit to the thing until 10 years in. So here’s a good progression. explore your interests. What are you interested in? For example, what is jujitsu, I’m interested, okay, so go do it for six months, see what happens.

01:34:39 – Final Words Shown Below…

Our Final Words of the Show:

Your LANGUAGE is powerfully influencing you, for better and for worse. With just a minimal amount of education, you can change the way you’ve seen yourself. You can change the way you see your place in the world, you can change the way that you interact with other people.

Most importantly, we didn’t talk about this as much as I normally talk about it on podcasts, because we’re known as the language people, and that’s nice, it’s great. It’s great to be known for something, we might as well be known as the language and the breathing people. Push comes to shove, gun to head, it’s about the BREATH. You can learn to use your words in more constructive, dare I say and I do dare say, elegant ways. Unlock your breathing because guess what? It’s hard to enjoy being you when your breath is trapped in your chest. That’s where most people’s breath is trapped, it’s trapped in their chest.

A little fun fact. The second and third most commonly purchased over the counter medications are indigestion medication, and constipation medication. In my personal professional opinion, it’s because people’s breath is trapped in their chest.
